CHINESE LANGUAGE FACTS

Currently, Chinese is one of the most common spoken languages around the world, because one-fifth of the world population roughly speaks some form of this language as their mother tongue. Therefore if you are already learning Chinese, you will have a good chance of using it. This language belongs to the Sino-Tibetan family and is composed of almost 40,000 different symbols that are universally comprehensible. The most popular Chinese dialect is Mandarin, well-known as Guānhuà 官話, is spoken in west, central and north China. This is the standard language or the official language of the Republic of China and the People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.  On the other hand, this language is closely connected to Burmese and Tibetan, but quite different from Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Thai languages. It's worth mentioning that in the case of Korean and Japanese are strongly linguistically influenced by Chinese in the course of history. For instance, Kanji and Hanja are two writing systems which are based on Chinese characters in Japan and Korea.
