Demonstrative pronoun




Definition: Demonstrative Pronouns (takes the place of a noun). The demonstrative pronouns are the same in form as the demonstrative adjectives, but they always have the accent mark:

English Chinese Characters Pinyin
This 这个 Zhège
That 那个 Nàgè
These 这些 Zhèxiē
Those 那些 Nàxiē

Examples in Chinese:

  • That is your sweater.
  • 那个是你的毛衣
  • Nàgè shì nǐ de máoyī

  • This blouse is mine
  • 这个襯衫是我的
  • Zhège chènshān shì wǒ de

  • These dogs are mine
  • 这些狗是我的
  • Zhèxiē gǒu shì wǒ de

  • Those dogs are mine
  • 那些狗是我的
  • Nàxiē gǒu shì wǒ de
