Chinese Possessive Adjective



Definition: Possessive adjectives differ depending on the person they are referring to. Possessive adjectives are the words used in place of articles to indicate to whom or to what something belongs. Also with the noun they qualify in gender and number.

In Chinese language possessive adjectives are formed by adding the word 的 (DE) after the pronoun.

Pronoun + 的(DE) = Possessive Adjective

  • Nǐ de zìxíngchē shì hóngsè de.

  • His glasses are pretty.
  • 他 的 眼 镜 是 漂 亮
  • Tā de yǎnjìng shì piàoliang.

  • Her blouse is pretty.
  • 她 的 上 衣 很
  • Tā de shàngyī hěn.
